aiels only allowed cairhienin merchants/gleemen/tinkers to the 3fland before the war, i think the green algode should be cairhienin(clan) or merchant(clan) eq.....

In response to Fahad:
We considered that the Aiel Waste be only accessible by Cairhienin and merchants/gleemen/peddlers when the algode collar concept was cooked up, but we felt that it would be more beneficial for the whole of the MUDDing population to have access to the Waste, at the expense of a little RP. To my knowledge, the clans above are not attacked by Aiel even without the algode collar. I will have to check.
In addition:
I am slightly distressed that some people have been wearing clearly unacceptable eq. This is not the sole fault of those who wear them; the imms have yet to discourage (to an effective extent), the wearing and useage of unacceptable eq. Once the MUD is up, I will try to get a mob to trade you darkside gear for more RP-acceptable eq. There will also be mobs that will shortly check for the use of RP-unacceptable equipment at the gates and in various check points in the cities. This will (hopefully) fix those who wear dark gear into cities, but the fact remains that it is the players' choice to use the eq, and we cannot check on players all the time. So what I propose is that the player base begin to adapt to the RP restrictions, while we strengthen the sense of RP in the MUD. It can be quite disheartening to see, as a new player who have heard about mirror's strong sense of RP, Aiel wearing Lion Guard cloaks, or wetlanders wearing Cadin'sor. The Aiel equipment were given extra defence bonuses for the sole reason that the extra bonuses would hopefully balance the wetlander's use of cloaks, and barrage of jewelery (*winces at the sight of all those holes poked into people's ears and other..body parts*). This is not written to put blame on anyone- if there is blame to be put, then it will fall at our (the imm's) feet- but to indicate to the players that we will be cramping down on the use of illegal eq, and that there will be RP repercussions shortly. You guys have been absolutely fabulous, and I hope that we continue our current trend. We are a friendly MUD, and I sincerely we remain that way. Kudos to your maturity, your dedication and of course, strong sense of "communitism" (Is that even a word?).

Right now, until the overworked RP staff comes up with the permanent solution, or the admins come up with a consensus idea, gleeman clan is exempt from algode piece, technically a "merchant" would not include, jewelers, metal smiths, clothiers, weavers, etc. those people create the eq, they may sell in a shop, the Aiel allowed traders to use the silk path to shara, so for now, if you can afford the algode, you qualify. If you have ideas, shoot them out With luck someone will come up with the perfect idea, which we can actually do.

Hello my fluffy little tickle bunnies!
Okay, I just want to say that I totally agree with Diana- Tower RP ROCKS!!!!! *Dual wields her red and white feather dusters* The size of the Tower makes it possible to really get "into" the place- I love it when I get a little lost while wandering the hallways. Of course that only really happens when I am an idiot and try to navigate my way around without using a map. *blink* but still! ;P
Hum... I do have one question and one suggestion about the clans and classes; Question: Since the code for being a wolf bro/sis, dream walkers, and ta'veren(?) hasn't been coded yet, what will happen to all the currently played chr's who have passed their set time to 'evolve' one of these abilities? When the codes are imped, will we all be given the same random chance to get one, or have we all just missed out on ever gaining a special ability?
Now for my suggestion; When I was last on the mud, I heard it narrated by a Imm (although their name eludes me at the moment) that the 'clan' for Gleemen will not be so much a "clan" as it will just be something which is RPd by any individual. Now, at first I was like "OMG, that's so cool! Anyone could be a Gleeperson!" but then I thought about it a bit and said to myself, "ew... ANYONE could be a gleeperson." Okay, maybe its just lil'ol me, but I think that being a gleeperson is something worth working for. Its a title worth the effort it would take to build a reputation and earn clan points towards. Yes, anyone can just say "whee, lookie me, I'm a gleedude" but how dose that honor the individuals who spend rl time and effort typing our a series of detailed emotes before giving a performance? Or those people who recherche into the WoT books to make sure their stories are historically accurate? How dose allowing anyone who wishes to call themselves a Gleeman, regardless of true interest or talent, represent the true nature of the WoT world? Okay, yes, there were traveling people who would stop in taverns and inns to play a flute, or sing a song, but they were just -traveling mistrals,- not gleeman. The term Gleeman was something given to a select few who demonstrated talent and dedication beyond all others. Then, of course, there are court and royal Bards who were the elite gleeman. Beyond them there were… er… okay, I forget the exact name, but they were super-good, world renowned types of Gleepeople who would only perform for Kings and Queens. So you see, having a Gleeman Clan and giving people the opportunity to earn the Cloak and flute/harp is something which will not only recognize and provide much entertainment for the truly RP dedicated players, but also something which will help the mud as a whole gain a more realistic sense of RP. Gleemen are the people who would spread the news, stories, and gossip of the world in the WoT books- shouldn't they be able to have and earn the same sort of respect on the mud?
Oh, and another thing before I go... I think I read a long time ago that it is possible to be in 2 clans at once, so long as they did not interfere with each other's RP. Like, a Valon couldn't also be a White Cloak, for example. Yet someone in a Thief guild could also be a merchant. (all merchants are thieves though, depending on how they conduct their bizness ;P). Anyway, i just wanted to verify that my memory is correct and multi-clanning is possible.
That's all for now ... keep up the great work. =)~

Actually we already have wolfbros/taveren/etc, it is the actual manifestation, and the abilities that go with them that aren't in yet. There are wolfbros/etc in the game right now, it's just that the "abilities" that come with the designation aren't in yet, nor the "signs" to tell you that you are one. Hope that clears that up for you all

Yep, we do have dual clanning for each person. That means that 'secret' clans can and will be a reality. Spies may join a clan to get 'information' and report back to their head clan eq. There are, as you said, some restrictions. Certain combinations of clans are just unacceptable. The main reason to have these dual clans is to basically give people a go at becoming a country-man and a be part of a military/thief/Tower etc clan. So you could very well be a Cairhienin noble Aes Sedai, given the time and effort. In response to gleemen and the clanning of them: I am not certain how to solve this problem, because it is very much up to the players. If enough players feel that it should be a clan, then it could be made that way, given the RP imm's approval. I am not certain. I do however, see the problem. Any nit wit could suddenly have the 'urge' to becoming a gleeman and try to RP one without thought of repercussions to other's RP. Perhaps have it like blademasters in that they are not a clan, but are required a level of skill to be registered as one. Tests can be run by RP imms, who will set up venues for potential gleepersons to perform and be judged by an audience. After tests, the gleeman can be officially acknowledged as a gleeperson by a RP imm. Further trials may be taken to earn further status in the gleeperson association. I am not certain. The only nit pick I have with gleemen being a clan is that the gleeperson will have to report to another gleeperson to get 'rank', which is not really realistic. Perhaps when we get the fame/notority code in, we will come up with a better solution. J-A-X, who is a wolfbrother char *howls with glee as he munches on a bran muffin*

Tower roleplay, is awesome, completely. I love it to death! but! we're lopsided We have so many clans that need to be filled by players, and a lot of ambitious players, but even the ones who want to be a Child of the Light or a Cairhien Defender find themselves with a lack of community since right now the roleplay of Mirrors centers around the Tower clans. Never fear!!! I have some suggestions that will help those that feel like they don't have any other choice but to join the Warder Students. 1) Join your clan and stick to it. Make a background for your character and why he/she is the only member of X clan wandering around and post it on the events boards in the ajor cities. 2) Recruit newbies to be in your clan with you. Very early on, roleplay with them the glory of your clan and let them know they will play an important part in forming the web of the rp world on mirrors. Get your friends to come with you too (when we all first started playing this mud I think 90% of the players were in the Shining Guardsmen simply because Flarn asked us to be) 3) Be loud! Whenever you log on go looking for other players and just start roleplaying with them. If that means your a Child of the Light and you have to go to Tar Valon to get to know people in other clans and make sure they know you exist, do it! There can always be a reason to go wandering around anywhere. Just make sure you have it. 4) Start conflicts that rely on the presense of another clan. Right now my mort has a situation brewing that would thrive if there were only a few Cairhien to bring it to... maybe she'll hold off on bringing it up until somebody pops into that clan *hint, hint* RP on mirrors is up to us, the players, to create. That's the beauty of it. Don't limit yourselves because what you want isn't there. Make it yourselves! I know you all have great imaginations that can come up with any story line. There is a timeline here, but keep in mind its before a whole lot of the WoT history has been set in stone. I can't wait until some one waltzes in claiming to be a High Lord of Tear and shouting orders all around. *bounce* ok enough excitement out of me. Audrya -who is only posting ideas and has not been certified by the Mirrors board of legal Creators to do this. In fact, she may get a big fat spanking from Caen for giving him a headache after this *hopeful look*

Could not of said it better myself. The clans are open for players to start. It takes time and effort to start the clan, but you will more than likely get support at these early stages of our development. There has been requests for a Child of Light clan, and a base from which they can operate from is already in the works. Request what you desire and show you have the motivation for it and you will get imm support, if we deem you a person that can handle the clan with maturity. You will, of course, start out as a low ranking clanperson, but you will get experience and rank with time and dedication. What we really need in the MUD, as Audrya said, is recruitment of newbies into clans. Once people get to know the MUD's RP side better, instead of its features(which are great btw coders *grin*), I am certain they will be drawn to the MUD as a whole.

Greetings my fluffy little tickle bunnies!
Hum ... well I know of 5 people who have asked and shown real interest in becoming Gleepeople thus far in the muds existence, so I guess that's a good start *g* "The only nit pick I have with gleemen being a clan is that the gleeperson will have to report to another gleeperson to get 'rank', which is not really realistic." I agree. For realism purposes, it doesn't make sense for one gleeperson to "report" to another gleeperson. After all, the Gleepeople would naturally keep a very organized clan, in order to prevent rogue individuals from patching rags together in the semblance of the Gleeperson cloak, and going around potentially damaging the reputation of their respected organization. OR (worse yet) moving into official Gleepeople territory and monopolizing gleepeople assets; P Like any merchant, crafts man, or trader guild, organization and the protection of their good name would run supreme in the Gleepeople Clan. To accomplish this IC, it could be interesting to have an official "Gleeperson Council" comprising of retired Bards, or well known mistrals. *shrug* it would be ICish... plus, in a clan environment CP could be awarded to issue new Cloaks, Silk Bard Cloaks, Silver/gold/Silver and gold inlayed Flutes, and Silver/gold/silver and gold finished Harps if a clan member were to "loose" their own. hum... lessee... I personally don't think the idea of "imm testing" to join the clan would go over too big with the general player. I mean, lets face it, not everyone is an RP god/dess- especially if they are new to the mud. If the person in question is new to muds period, then they might not have the grasp of good emote writing, how to present themselves, etc. Thus plunking them in front of an imm controlled council would be a tad unfair... Maybe it would be better to have the clan's ranking levels work like its own "testing ground." It could be like the Tower, per say: Just because you are in the Aes Sedai clan, doesn't make you an Aes Sedai. You begin as an initiate (*dual wields her feather dusters*) and then work your way up to the pretty shawl and ring. =) In a Gleeperson clan, people could start off as a Muse, then work their way up to Minstrel, and so on and so forth until they attain the coveted Gleeperson Cloak. After they get that far, the next couple of rank levels could be more token gains- like, they get a prettier harp or flue to carry around. The higher levels of Gleemen could be the Court Bard, then Royal Bard, (Bards get a nice silk Bard Cloak *strokes the silk cloak and drools*) then *shrug* think of something better. *g* Okay, the thing about having Gleepeople start off as Muses, minstrels etc. is that it gives them lots of time to perform in front of groups of ppl and get not only feed back on how to do better, but it also lets ppl know that they are just STUDYING to be Gleepeople. So its okay if they suck. *g* See? They will get to "Glee" their hearts out, but without harming the Gleepeople's reputation. And by the time they have enough CP for the actual Gleepeople cloak, they will HAVE to be better at performing, emoting, and generally being imaginative. *g*
Humm... Now then, the Gleepeople have a ranking system, but how could they get CP? On WoT *shivers* the poor gleepeople need PC's to write in to that Simon guy and complement their hard work. That's just dumb. I admit I haven't worked out a way which individual performances could be monitored and CP given for them, but I have thought about quests. Okay, so, gleemen get quests like anyone else, right? Theirs would of course be more of a peaceful nature ... like, maybe delivering a package to some high lady while on the way to do a performance or something. The point is that Gleepeople quests would be centered around learning the mud and zones, as opposed to killie killie, smashy smashy. *tickles you all*
Now, you may think I'm putting the cart WAAAaaaY before the horse, and I know I am, but still.. I have all these interesting little ideas so I need to speak them somewhere. *bounces around like a bunny for a few minutes*

I know that the mud is a LONG way from being finished (if a mud this size and detail can *ever* be finished ;P), yet like I said, I just wanted to toss out some ideas. Please don't think that I am in any way voicing dissatisfaction with the mud as it currently is, because I'm not. It ROCKS!!! I tell all my friends about it, even those who don't know what a mud is. *blink* *giggles and bounces around for a few more minutes* Oiy, its so early and I haven't slept in hours and hours, and I was up all night doing Law homework and drinking Tea (I don't like coffee) and now I have to go to school in a few minutes... EEP! eep eep eep! *makes some more "eep!" noises as she bounces* SOOOOooooooo... when all the beautiful, talented and oh so very sexy Immies get a chance to look over my ideas (and that's all they are.. Ideas) maybe they could tell me if such things are possible for the very distant future? Don't worry... I have lots of patience. =)
And my concerns, as you might have deduced, are not totally unselfish. If Jetta cannot channel a spark, and after I come out of my catatonic depressed state of mourning, I will probably make her a Gleeperson in hopes of working up to being a Royal Bard. *grins like the Cheshire cat* Of course, one of those interesting little "secret clans" might be fun to belong to as well.... Which reminds me of my second question: Are many of the secret clans functional as of now, and just waiting for players to find them and join? Just wondering... *blink*
Okay, I have to go shower and bounce off to school ... take it easy all, and have a good one!

PS: they should give us more space to post long messages... or is it just me and my long-windedness? *bounces off to school*

This is my opinion, like any one listens to that, on what I'd like to see happen to the Gleeman/women (henceforth known as gleeman) clans. It's probably going to be way to complicated to imp even, but maybe some of it could be. Each char, could have a possibilty roll at creation to see how good they can be at what they do in terms of Gleemanning. Lets face it not everyone can sing like a dove, or dance like a Fade. This roll would affect how far they could advance in the ranks in the gleeman 'clan'. Now, the clan as we all are certain to agree should be a loose organization, with the only clan eq being capes (They should buy harps, flutes, etc.). The clan ranks could be unique, and hardly count, but be based one-hundered percent on 'Fame' and 'Noteriety.' Either way, since a gleeman should be able to go to a party and entertain, play the Game of Houses, or do some spying/assinating. This should give a good deal of flexibility to playing one. Now, getting clanned. I feel that gleemen should have to apprentice to a specfic Gleeman, like Mat, Rand, and Dena did. This gleeman will decide when these peple are ready to be full-fledged Gleeman, through RP logs, tests, or whatever they want. Kinda takes the emphasis of the imms doing it. Secondly, ranks should only be seen by those in the Gleeman clan, since this doesn't really need to be a 'clan' or have a clan list. The gleeman could request a list of 'clanmates' at any time through a mail to imms, or something of that sort, and as such only other gleemen would know where other gleemen stand in ranks. If this is confusing or anything of that sort. I'll be happy to elaborate, though can't imagine why someone would read this whole thing.
