I was just wondering if anyone knew the way that ta'veren strength is shown to those that can see ta'veren aura? I've seen RandomPerson is standing here. ...has a slightly glowing aura ...has a glowing aura ...has a brightly glowing aura ...has a luminescent aura Are the above in correct order? Is there other strengths in ta'veren-ness, if so, what are they and where does it rank? Thanks

Does being Ta'veren actually mean anything? Just curious

Actually I don't believe they do anything further than show up as auras occasionally so that it can work in with another talent. It would be good if it just had some superficial effects such as with coin tosses, dice and in other little ways.

I believe being ta'veren does have some effect on game mechanics, but specifics on that aren't really for viewing here. I'm actually more interested in the casual incidental effects associated with being a ripple in the lace of ages.
In the books we have many references to strange things happening. The stronger ta'veren you were, the more improbable things that were likely to happen. A weak ta'veren might have something that's a 1 in 20 chance go their way, while a strong ta'veren may have something along the lines of 1 in 100,000.
As such, I'd like some suggestions of 'strange happenings' so I can add a few events for atmosphere. These things won't happen all the time, and will probably be subtle enough not to give player's talent away (yes, some mobs will be ta'veren too), but I'm hoping that they add a little more richness to the flavour of the world.

Superficial ideas: Maybe you could type dice "1 2 3 4 5" for a 5 dice roll and what you choose to roll is successful depending on ta'veren strength. I recall Mat rolling what he "needed" to roll based upon the game he was playing. Coin tosses - occasional coin landing upon its side otherwise again like above you could type coin heads to try for a head, success to be based upon ta'veren strength. They're just base ideas to maybe consider, I don't know the possibility etc but running short of time so I'll see if I can't think of a few involved ideas too. P.S. - Also the "sensation of dice spinning in your head" - what on earth is that?

I was more thinking of atmospherics, such as a volley of arrows landing together in a perfect circle and the like. Things that don't directly improve a player's power (that's more a code issue), but rather adds more to the mystique of the player's special ability. Ta.

How often do you have a volley of arrows shooting your way Tular? I myself cannot think of anything atmospheric that does not affect directly or indirectly the way mobs/items and their combat interact with the specific chosen ta'veren. Compounded then by multiple persons in the room of different strengths, I dunno. For atmospherics, the coin tosses and dice rolls - probably need code? I don't really know but then you have the thing where several strong ta'veren in the same room should cause swirlings of the pattern as the web of life concentrates the turning upon that area. Really odd things should happen then and I don't mean miasma like the ones that attacked Rand/Perrin and Mat, because they were also generated by the weakening of the seals. Atmospherically - its hard to do anything that has any true effect but making ta'veren 'do' something, since it should affect little things of chance would be a nice change.

Arrows landing in a circle was simply an example from the books. Others included a child falling from an upper storey window and walking away without a scratch, while another person tripped on a root and died on hitting the ground. Either of these is suitable for background ambience if the right conditions are met, and may inspire reports to be sent to interested clans. A Servant of the Dark may have orders to report the presents of any noteable strangers around when anything rather 'peculiar' happens. Various Ajahs may also be interested.
What I was after is simply a list of improbable (though not impossible) events that might occur while a ta'veren is present. Gophers undermining a watertank support causing it to fall over, thus dousing a fire... Go wild.

Ahh, you mean happening around the ta'veren, not happening to them. My mistake.
eg: A Simple but Colorful Shop [exits: N S W E ] A village seamstress is here, tending to her business.
A village seamstress drops a basket of items as you enter. The baskets contents spill accross the ground aligning themselves in an uncanny pattern, depicting the image of a rearing lion.
Main Street of Maradon [exits: N S ] A soldier stands here, defending the crown city of Saldaea. A small child is playing here quietly in the street.
The sound of thundering hooves beat the pavement from nearby. From around a corner, a heavily laden wagon tears up the street knocking the small child flying with its impact. *CRASH* The child stands up, dazed but otherwise uninjured, loping off into the side streets.
That kind of thing?
Still like the coin/dice tosses too!!! ;D
