Okay so the point of this thread is to help people who want to know how to have good rp with an Illianer. Feel free to add anything that you think is good, and start a similar post in other country boards, and this help applies to both how to rp your Illianer and rp with an Illianer.
ABC: Illian HATES Tear, end of story. There is only one exception, and that is for individual chars, but make sure that the character in question doesn't hate Illian & doesn't have TOO much love for their country. That is in my opinion one of the basic rules of rp for a loyal Illianer.
Illian has pretty good relations with the Tower. Well by pretty good, I mean we can tolerate them, and some of us like them. That means, that under NO circumstances can you claim that the majority of the country hates the Tower nor can you claim that we love them. If you say that, you can only speak for yourself and/or other individual Illianers, that have ICLY told you about that.
We are not like one of the weaker countries, we can and do stand on equal foot with Cairhien/Andor.... So don't rp having a weak country.
The government is not really involved in the everyday lives of its citizens. Commoners are actually well treated in Illian, no one should rp the contrary. The Council, the Assemblage and the King divide the power between themselves.
Have fun and I'll try to add things, if you see something wrong, feel free to correct it.

If I may, I mind remind that Illianers have odd accent, and "I do be going" or so, their style of speaking, was it?

Ok, I may sound like a jerk or something, but if you want to rp an Illianer and don't know about the accent thing-you shouldn't
Now that that is out of my system, let's move on to the government structure of Illian. Although the power is divided between the Assembleage, the Council and the King=it's not done equally, it's whoever holds the most influence at the time that calls the shots. The King is still the boss though, but if he pisses the Council members/does stupid moronic stuff he's in trouble, I'm not sure about this, but he may even be deposed (I'M NOT SURE ABOUT THIS AT ALL)
The assembleage is composed of the most influential merchants of Illian, this shows how much Illian relies on its economy, and how influential even lowly merchants can be. I'm not sure if it's hereditary, and how new members are chosen, and also if there's a cap on the # of members. But what I personally think, is members are chosen by how beneficial that specific merchant's family has been to the country, and also how well he is doing- and chances are that they MIGHT admit women, but they have to be FREAKISHLY successful.
The Council is composed of the most influential noble families, the members are called High Lords (not in the Tairen sense), the King can be chosen from the Council in cases there's no successor or something. They are usually in a "friendly competition" with the King for power (i.e. The two simillar palace things).
The King, relatively same as all kings, except for the Council situation.
Feel free to make any friendly amendments.

Alright I was wrong, the Council can not depose the King, unless of course they accuse him of being a traitor. I'm not even sure of that. And new members can be raised to the Council.
